Our Mission

CyberTips aims to provide practical tips, resources and information to help everyone in Bermuda get the most out of technology by encouraging safe and responsible practices online.

We want everyone to be on guard against online dangers - including inappropriate content, potentially harmful behaviours, cyberbullying, fraud, and cyber-attacks.

The CyberTips team routinely visits schools, youth organisations and community events throughout Bermuda to deliver workshops, talks and educational resources tailored to every audience.

A confidential reporting tool and hotline working directly with the Bermuda Police Service to investigate all reports.

Online behaviour in Bermuda is governed by several key laws. Ignorance of the law is not a defence - understanding your legal rights and responsibilities online is essential.

The CyberTips team can provide information about what constitutes a criminal offence online and what steps victims can take.

Computer Misuse Act

Criminalises unauthorised access to computer systems, hacking, and the deployment of malware or malicious software.

Electronic Transactions Act

Governs digital communications, electronic signatures and the legal validity of online contracts and transactions.

Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA)

Protects personal data held by organisations and gives individuals rights over how their information is collected and used.

Criminal Code Act

Covers harassment, threats, stalking and other offline criminal offences that apply equally when committed online.
